There’s something powerful about speaking to a room full of people who have already built something — and the Rotary Club gathering at Bryanston Country Estate was exactly that.
These were seasoned professionals, business owners, community leaders. People with track records. And yet, they showed up to the conversation with the same hunger I see in first-year students. That told me everything about what it means to be a leader committed to growth.
Leadership is not a destination
The theme I kept coming back to was this: leadership is not something you arrive at. It’s something you practise — daily, repeatedly, and often imperfectly.
I’ve built Dragon Pride Realty from scratch. I’ve made decisions that worked beautifully and decisions I had to recover from. And every single experience — the wins and the losses — has shaped how I lead today.
What I’ve learned is that the best leaders are not the ones who have it all figured out. They are the ones who remain students of their craft, their industry, and most importantly, themselves.
Serving the community through business
One of the things that resonated most with the room was the conversation around purpose-driven business. The Rotary Club has long understood that business and community are not separate things — they are deeply connected.
I shared how Dragon Pride Realty was built not just to close property deals, but to create opportunities. To bring people into the wealth-creation conversation who have historically been locked out of it. To develop stakeholders, not just clients.
That’s what sustainable business looks like. Not extraction — contribution.
A room that reminded me why I do this
Speaking at Bryanston Country Estate reminded me that the most meaningful conversations happen when people lead with openness. No pretence. No posturing. Just honest dialogue about what it takes to build something worth leaving behind.
